Which fluoropolymer pipe suits my needs?
Are you looking for high quality piping?
Perhaps you need a custom-made item to meet a unique requirement?
At Altaflo, we produce high performance fluoropolymer piping, using 100% virgin grade performance resins. This means that our piping has the best physical qualities for your application. Our experience and range allows us to meet the needs of an incredibly wide range of industries — we provide materials to the medical, automotive, electrical, gas and oil, critical fluid transportation and aerospace industries to name a few. So, how do you know which one is the best option for your particular project? Here’s what you need to know about the types of fluoropolymer piping on offer…
If you need a pipe suited for sight glass or other flow monitoring applications, consider our fluorinated ethylene propylene tubing (FEP) Altafluor 200 pipe. It can be joined using conventional threaded fittings, or may be welded, depending on your specific needs. Made with high performance resin, the pipe is designed to resist stress cracking and is chemically inert to most industrial chemicals and solvents. It also has a high thermal stability and excellent UV transmission. Non-flammable and self-extinguishing, this pipe is also a great choice for its superior electrical insulation properties. Some other application options include chemical processes, as well as laboratory applications, ground water monitoring, and automotive paint spray.
Extreme chemical resistance
Ideal for applications that require high temperature exposure and resistance to chemicals, our perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) 400 pipe can also be used with conventional threaded fittings, or welded. The pipe is compatible with flare or conventional type fittings, and has a higher thermal stability and lower permeability than FEP. With a moisture absorption of nearly zero, the pipe has a number of applications. Consider this type of pipe if your project involves emissions monitoring, double containment systems, or flow monitoring.
Smooth surface finish
Looking for a pipe suited for applications like semiconductor or pharmaceutical processes that require extreme chemical resistance, all the while maintaining the highest purity levels? Our ultra high purity perfluoroalkoxy (UHP PFA) Altafluor 480 pipe is made with a high molecular weight and high purity resin, making it extremely resistant to chemicals. This type of pipe also has very low permeation levels, and boasts the smoothest surface finish.
High purity levels
Perfluoro methyl alkoxy (MFA) Altafluor 600 pipe is similar in both characteristics and performance to PFA, but has superior clarity over standard PFA products. These pipes offer excellent stress crack resistance and chemical resistance, as well as outstanding purity levels. This type of pipe also often proves to be a cost effective option, particularly in projects in which chemical applications do not exceed 480 ˚F. The pipes also boast a higher service temperature and lower permeability than FEP, as well as better impact resistance and lower extractable levels than standard PFA. Some application options include automotive, heat exchangers, and chemical processes.
